How coaching helped H.B. refresh her meal prep, get ready for a busy season at work, and make changes that fit into her existing routines
A very happy Amplify Wellness coaching client here! I got linked up with Allie through a mutual friend, and I'm so glad I had the benefit of her coaching.
I'm an adult female who is very active and eats well. I was not happy with the place I was in with my food preparation, though, and that's where Allie and I focused our work together. We looked at my existing food rhythms, and Allie helped me figure out what I liked less about them, and what I wanted to change. I was eating reasonably well, but wasn't as organized or as intentional about my food prep as I wanted to be. Things sometimes felt chaotic. At the same time, making changes felt overwhelming, and that's where Allie's expertise and experience really shined. :)
Allie helped me figure out small, achievable goals to work on each week - starting with "prep a base, some vegetables, and a sauce" - and then helped me figure out what I needed to do in order to achieve those goals. Small steps made everything easier: I started scheduling in time to look at recipes at the end of one week, made sure I had the groceries over the weekend, and scheduled time to do the food prep (spoiler alert: it's not all on Sunday afternoons!). The small steps also gave us a chance to say "yay, I did it!" regularly: feeling successful (being successful, I suppose) helped keep me moving and motivated in the new rhythms.
Allie also helped me realize, and accept, that things aren't always going to go to plan. We strategized ways to plan around changes to my usual routines, and my habit of looking ahead in my calendar to see when time is going to be tighter, and when I'm going to need to plan for tweaks.
Throughout our time together, I was always leading our process; Allie never told me what to do. She was my coach, teammate, AND cheerleader. I was very comfortable with Allie from the start; she's kind and empathetic, and I never felt any tinge of judgement from her. Talking about these topics made me feel vulnerable at times, and I never felt any tinge of judgement from her: only support and understanding. We met mainly on video calls, with one walking coaching session.
I'm in the process of intentionally stocking my freezer with meals for a very busy season. Allie helped me figure out how to set myself up to achieve this big goal, and she will be getting a photo of my very full freezer!
Even though we're not working together right now, I know she's got my back. As and when I need a health tune-up, for food or anything else health-related, Allie will be the first person I contact.
